this doesn't seem to fit under any other heading, but:

should i keep a first aid kit on me? i have some training in first aid and minor trauma medicine (dealing with broken bones, sprains, things like that). im sure there is one in some of the vehicles, and in my own car, but for a medic's loadout...

also, i already have a load bearing vest and a tactical vest. the lbv has a camelback system in place, and both are molle, so i can just move the camelback to the tac without incident. should i get a separate web gear setup with mag pouches and suspenders/belt and such too?

Chaz:

Welcome to the d-board.

It's always good to bring along a first aid kit. I bring one with my gear to every op and leave it with my vehicle. I only carry it with me if we'll be covering rugged terrain a good distance from the vehicles. Otherwise I usually just bring a few band-aids out in the field. If you don't mind the extra load, I would bring it.

As far as web gear goes, everybody wears what they feel works best for them. The only concern is that we prefer vests and gear not be black. Other than that any military pattern of web gear is fine.

You'll be fine. The board usually picks up when we start talking about what to bring to the Saturday night potluck.

Hi Chaz,

Yeah... you need a tent and probably a good air mattress or cot.
If you are going to buy one PLEASE stick to olive greens, browns & tans! (or at least a subdued color)

Loud blue, yellow and red ("REI"-flauge) tends to clash with the military look and feel... know what I mean? ;)

See you downrange!

okay so i found a camoflage 3 man hex dome tent for like $70. and a nifty air mattress (dark blue too, never seen that color mattress).

but since im getting a bunch of ACU gear (found the uniform, a commando chest rig thing, a 2.5 liter hydration thing, a pasgt cover, a boonie hat, newer thinner goggles so they dont get in the way as much, and a few other acu things) im wondering if there is such a thing as an acu type tarp. probably not all things considered, but worth it to try and find.

oh btw, i tried the star mags, and im ordering a case. i personally only want 6 or so, so if ppl want to buy the spares for like $5 each, PM me or something.

um, im using a 3 point sling, but it going to get in the way of the chest rig and stuff. any suggestions on a different sling? i have an ics m4a1.

go see my pictures thread!

Make sure that the dimensions of your mattress will fit in the tent. Nothing more irritating than finding out that it won't fit inside.

I have not come across an ACU tarp, but I will keep an eye out.

There is one of us that makes slings for weapons here in the Bay Area. He even has some of our US Troops using them. I think his website is slingsonly.com . They might be 3 point slings as well.

alright, new topic. i've decided to shell out some more cash as the tac vest i've been using is seeing some wear and tear.

I'm super super super interested in getting a CIRAS vest. problem is that there are three manufacturers: Phantom, Milspex, and Panther.

since i want to use the OD land version or the ACU land version, i have these narrowed down:

Milspex OD Land: http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/a ... odID=19864

Phantom OD Land: http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/a ... odID=20319

I have only found the multicam Panther, but I know there is an ACU version out there.

the us army uses the ranger green color (the milspex OD is virtually identical to ranger green, while the phantom is eagle industries OD) in land for most areas, and the land khaki for desert environments. suggestions on color?

opinions and suggestions? if you have another setup like this, my budget is $200ish, and i prefer 1000D cordura or ballistic nylon. must be molle and have pouches included. i have a size 46 chest.

If it were me personallly, I'd stick with the od, it goes well with most anything. As far as which brand, there's only one of the two in stock right now, the Milspec. So that narrows your choice down. I think I saw one of these listed on craigslist a couple days ago, just search for airsoft.
