Greetings!

I'm curious if anyone has experience or input using this goggle mask system:

http://www.sportsauthority.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2414887

I normally use a large red dot scope so not being able to use iron sights is not an issue for me. I never liked how masks takes away from the Milsim look but I don't tolerate mouth guards very well.

I am mainly concerned about it's comfort in warm climates. I do expect that it will fog.

Thank you.

Heya Andy,

I'll say right off, I don't know a thing about the JT mask and goggles. Out of curiousity, what is it about mouthguards that you don't like? For myself, until a few months ago, I just always chewed a few pieces of gum and molded the wad over my upper teeth. Works well.

Personally, I'm a big fan of the military SPECS (Special Protective Eyewear Cylindrical System). You've seen me wearing them. There's a vendor of eBay selling them for $9.99 + shipping (Item number: 170114775305).

I don't like how they inhibit my speech. I always have a strong urge to take it out before I speak. I could get used to it if I tried hard but I never enjoyed getting shot in the face much either and it always seems to happen the day I decide not to wear my mask.

Chewing gum is an interesting idea. I might try that.

I don't know about this protection system, but so long as the goggles meet our requirements (see below), they should be fine.

Quote:
Eye Protection
EYE PROTECTION is MANDATORY! All goggles and safety glasses must have a hard lens and must meet ANSI Z87.1 standards; ANSI Z80.3 is even better. There must be a full seal around the eyes and goggles must have a safety strap to prevent them from falling off. Goggles with soft lenses and shop glasses without a full face seal are not acceptable. Goggles and glasses with anti-fog lenses are highly recommended. Currently we recommend paintball goggles made by Scott and JT or tactical goggles made by Bolle.

The Web Link didn't provide too may specs, so I would read the box labeling very carefully. Also do they come with ear plugs?

Yes, mouthguards are going to change your speech, but it is a matter of just getting used to it and speaking just a little slower.

I myself use the Bolle' T800 which I think are still available. They have replacement lens. They do have a little problem with fogging when I am lying on my back (which seemed to happen alot at DT5), but that is just lack of ventilation.

I would assume JT USA rates all of their mask at ANSI Z87.1

I couldn't know for sure until I had them in my hands and could find an etch on the lenses that say so.

Normally I use my ESS NVG Goggles or WileyX glasses so finding suitable eyewear right now is not my problem. I am concerned about my toofers and though this might be another option for me.

Thanks guys.

Hello Sir,
My wife (quite the serious operator she is), has the mask you inquired about. Another of our team has it as well. She likes it, for the reason that it protects your face and teeth. She was hoping it would allow her to site her M14 Match without having to do any cutting. This was not the case. She still had to do some modification to her mask to properly site her weapon. Her M14 Match is fitted with the thread on rail system located above the hop-up. (different than the M14 scout) Although this rail sits only slightly above the iron sights, she has no riser for her scope which may have remedied the situation. Instead, she decided to have me trim the cheek portion of the mask.
Her mask has a slightly broader range of vision than that of other masks we have tried, and the effective neoprene ear covers help to keep it light weight.
Each of them still has had their mask fog up on cold mornings, despite anti-fog applications. I have seen Micro-Fans be the remedy to this, but still don't have them on my own.
Hope this wordy opinion is of some use.

I've since given up on the face mask and go with a mouth guard. Haven't had a really good face stinger in sometime now though.
