I'm very very tempted to get the ICS metal RIS shroud with vertical grip. After i get that, I'll likely pick up an AN/PEQ 2 battery box with laser and link in an 8.4v 3300mAh battery. But at the same time my current setup works well enough: 8.4 1800mAh nunchuck. decisions decisions.

How about both? Install a switch so when one goes dead you just throw a switch to the other battery.

That may work... hmm. I could probably get to radioshack and pick up an appropriate fuse and two way toggle switch... or a dial switch with a slot, that way i can make the knob on the PEQ unit actually switch batteries.

hey that's a nifty idea. now to put it into practice. also, dann, if you want my to take a look at that pistol that busted on you, i'll bring a toolkit with me to the next op I attend. likely both myself and chris will be there, with our own tent and stuff, now that i have an idea what to bring.

I also didn't see any support gunners at ES2. i think next year i'll get a Star m249 para. any other suggestions for that?

I'll definitely try, if I get the go ahead from Chris (He'll be using my R6, or by then a CA m15a2 rifle, he doesn't like carbine, lol) we'll be there in February for DT4. I'll likely have the RIS installed by then, with the battery switcher.

Im not sure if we'll be able to go, really. we'll likely do a beach insertion, and i have ACUs now, but i'll bring woodland too of course. im sort of concerned about water damage to gear like the AEG, but also to things like radios. any advice on that? About accomodations, is it a real barracks tent? That'd be awesome.

the Star m249 para i'll have by summer most likely. is there anybody else that goes to ops that has a support weapon like that? any advice on how many batteries/ammo it goes through?

I also found a 59.99 m1911 green gas blow back pistol from KWC on airsplat.com. limited supplies, but Chris has one and he loves it. Well made and strong. Mostly metal, with ABS slide and grips. metal parts and barrel though.

While I am not the expert....Light splashing I think is okay for AEGs. Full underwater dipping, then you have a problem. Batteries should definitely be kept out of the water.

Smaller things like radios can be put into a small ziplock bag to keep the majority of the water out. You can then run the ear piece wire out of the bag.

Hope this helps!

i suppose i could epoxy seal the rifle together... better to just condom the whole thing and use a gas pistol. with those water damage is limited to rust and seal cleaning at least. gas rifles are similar i think.

anybody ever find 8mm biodegradable pellets? maruzen M1 has my eye too, but im worried about the 8mm part.

well, i've assmebled $300 for the op, 150 from me, and 150 from chris. we've got our webgear and bdu's lined up, as well as general gear, and etc. problem is, while he can use paypal, i'm unwilling to. majorly bad experiences in the past.

can we buy PFD's at REI? is it recommended to bring ponchos? does the billet include food for field chow or do we bring rations?

in other news, i'll be bringing some major upgrades: a new m120 spring and upper ICS gearbox with a new polycarb piston and aluminum head/cylinder, and several star 30round mags (love them, thanks for letting me try them out dann).

well, now that chris and i are paid (well, the payment is on the way) i've gotten a hold of some upgrades:

a new RIS, a vertical handgrip, and a peq2 unit sans laser but with a nice 3300mah battery :3

the down side, the key thing for it (and especially the battery) is that i'll be dropping in an M120 spring, bringing me up to around 375-400 fps. here's the thing, i'm really worried about that 5 fps difference. my rifle shoots a little hot to begin with (355 or so with .2g as chrono'd at op es 2) than the rated 300 that was rated on the box, so i'm worried that i'll be going over the fps limit. anybody here with suggestions on this?

ive installed a new spring and piston in the well r6, so that should be hitting 300ish maybe 320, im not worried.

Best recommendation is to test it with a chronograph. Find someone who does and give it a test.

This is why we recommend that guys don't make their guns right at the 400 FPS limit. Atmosphere, altitude and temperature does play a little difference. One place will have you chrono-ing at 390 and another is 410. Infact, I've got a few guns that are over the limit and until I can lower the spring, they will stay in the closet.

save those for an OP:LC event, they max it at 450 or something for riflemen. I don't know anyone near me that has a chrono. no shops or anything :(

Just replace a new Olympic Arms/ICS Mil4 RIS because the new one is better to use than the old.
